McDonnell Academy Global Research Symposium: Forces Reshaping the World

Washington University in St. Louis (WashU) hosted the 2023 McDonnell International Scholars Academy Global Research Symposium: Forces Reshaping the World Oct. 5-7, 2023.

Nearly 300 attendees from WashU and international collaborators convened to discuss innovative approaches to address global challenges in the environment, social innovation, global health, and digital transformation. The thought-provoking and insightful information kept attendees engaged, curious, and eager to continue discussing the exceptional work supported by the McDonnell Academy’s seed grant initiatives.

Symposium highlights

The McDonnell Academy brought together students, researchers, and thought leaders to explore the pressing issues reshaping our world. Attendees were invited to actively participate in thought-provoking plenaries, workshops, and competitions.

Plenary sessions focused on pivotal research themes: the environment, social innovation, global health challenges, and digital transformation. These engaging discussions featured panelists and participants collaborating on ways research universities can address complex global issues.

A notable highlight was the Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition, which showcased the talent of graduate students from WashU and international partner universities. This event demonstrated the creativity and dedication of young researchers committed to impactful work.
