Flavia Namuwonge Honored with Provost’s Graduate Student Research Excellence Award

Flavia Namuwonge has been honored with the Provost’s Graduate Student Research Excellence Award in recognition of her outstanding doctoral research. Namuwonge, a graduate of the McDonnell Academy’s partner, Makerere University, joined the McDonnell Academy in 2022. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Social Work in the Brown School at WashU.

As the sole recipient from the Social Work doctoral program, she was celebrated during the Global Research Excellence Showcase held on November 10, 2025. This award highlights exceptional scholarly achievement and impact across the university.

“I am deeply grateful to my mentors and to the Doctoral Program Committee for their nomination, as well as to the Office of the Vice Provost for this prestigious recognition. Receiving this award fills me with excitement and humility,” said Flavia.
