Yuyi is a highly motivated individual with a strong passion for the intersection of medicine, public health, and data science. She received her bachelor’s degree in medicine from Fudan University and gained valuable experience working as an associate at Das Capital in Shanghai, where she focused on financing medical start-ups. With a desire to make a broader impact in public health, Yuyi earned a master’s degree in Public Health from Washington University in St. Louis and is now pursuing a PhD in Data Science. She is dedicated to developing innovative solutions to address the most pressing challenges in public health using cutting-edge data science techniques.

Beyond her academic pursuits, Yuyi enjoys indulging in a variety of hobbies, including playing music, exploring new cultures through travel, and experimenting with different cuisines in the kitchen.

Bringing Agentic AI to Social Work Research: Yuyi Yang Presents at the SSWR 2026 Annual Conference in Washington DC

Yuyi Yang delivered a presentation at the 30th Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) Annual Conference on “Automating Qualitative Inquiry Using Agentic AI” on January 16, 2026. The talk highlighted how AI agent workflows can support qualitative methods, including thematic analysis and grounded theory, with a focus on improving efficiency and rigor while keeping human oversight central.

The Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) is a non-profit professional membership organization founded in 1994, dedicated to advancing social work research. SSWR brings together social work researchers, students, faculty, and practitioners to improve knowledge that informs policy, practice, and social welfare solutions at local, national, and international levels. The 2026 SSWR Annual Conference was themed “Leading for Transformative Change: Aligning Social Work Science with Policy and Practice” — emphasizing leadership in social work research that bridges science, policy, and practice to drive impactful, equitable change.

Yang, a graduate of McDonnell Academy partner, Fudan University, joined WashU in 2023. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Computational & Data Sciences at the McKelvey School of Engineering.
